Panama Canal Cruise

Sorry for the prolonged absence! Been too busy the last few months to blog (long story -- nanny troubles!).

We've just returned from a wonderful cruise through the Panama Canal. We all had a great time and it was so, so nice to spend everyday with Ian and Kira for two whole weeks. They also really enjoyed being with my parents.

Here we are leaving Miami the first day:

Most mornings we ate breakfast in our PJ's on our balcony.

We were lucky to get a room with a huge, I mean huge, corner balcony at the back of the ship.

At the beach

In current events: the town of Los Olivos apparently lowered their flag to half-mast and had an impromptu motorcade to Neverland on the news of Michael Jackson's death. I'm glad someone considered him one of their own.

(We were only here on a full-mast day. Sorry.)

Fun at the wharf: Kira shows off her coloring.

Greetings from vacation-land. First stop, a picnic lunch and outdoor wine tasting in Paso Robles.

Next: arrival at the "family vacation center" at UCSB. The accommodations are on the Soviet side, the food a little too... Kraft, but we're on the beach and enthusiastic college students are playing with my kids while we go wine tasting and try new restaurants. So on the balance, mostly a plus.

This photo taken right after Kira ate her sixth drumstick and two chocolate chip cookies. At least she likes the food.

Ian and Kira getting ready for the pajama party.

Afore-mentioned wine-tasting.
